Great to meet you!

My name is Shateria Boone, and I am a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner with a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) from Walden University. I work exclusively with adults, and I bring doctoral-level training and deep clinical experience to every person I have the privilege of supporting.

My practice centers on trauma and PTSD — experiences that can quietly reshape every aspect of a person's life, often long after the original events have passed. Alongside trauma, I treat anxiety, depression, OCD, bipolar disorder, ADD/ADHD, chronic conditions, and stress. I also have a focused commitment to supporting women's mental health across the many dimensions of their lived experience.

I believe that healing from trauma is not only possible — it is something every person deserves the support to pursue. My practice is built to be that support: knowledgeable, steady, and deeply respectful of each person's unique path.

My approach to therapy

My approach is trauma-informed, evidence-based, and built around the whole person — not just a diagnosis or a symptom list.

Everything in my practice is shaped by an understanding of trauma: how it lives in the body, how it influences thought and behavior, how it colors relationships and daily functioning, and how it can intersect with chronic physical health conditions in ways that are often overlooked. I bring this lens to every client I work with — even when trauma isn't the presenting concern.

My primary therapeutic modality is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), which I find particularly effective in helping clients identify and shift the thought patterns and behavioral responses that keep them stuck — whether rooted in trauma, anxiety, depression, OCD, or mood instability. CBT is structured and skills-focused, which means clients build real tools they can carry with them outside of our sessions.

As a doctoral-prepared provider, I also integrate medication management where appropriate, and I take care to discuss options transparently — explaining the reasoning, the expected effects, and how any medication fits within a broader treatment plan.

My style is warm, direct, and grounded. I don't rush the work, and I don't minimize the difficulty of it. I show up as a partner — and I take that responsibility seriously

What you can expect from me

For many people — especially those carrying trauma — the decision to seek care takes real courage. I want you to know that I don't take that lightly, and that your first session is designed to feel as safe and low-pressure as possible.

We'll begin by talking about what's brought you in and what your experience has been like. I'll ask about your history — mental health, physical health, and life context — but at a pace that respects where you are. You don't need to share everything at once, and there is no pressure to go anywhere you're not ready to go.

I'll also ask what you're hoping to feel or accomplish through our work together. That vision — yours — will anchor everything we do.

By the end of our first meeting, we'll have a beginning sense of direction: what we're working toward and what an initial care plan might look like. If medication is part of that conversation, we'll discuss it openly and collaboratively — nothing is decided without your understanding and agreement.

Whatever you're carrying, you don't have to carry it alone. That's what I'm here for.
