Great to meet you!

Are you struggling to hold on to hope, feeling weighed down by life’s challenges, or trying to find your way through a major transition? Maybe you feel disconnected from yourself after a divorce, a breakup, a career change, a loss, or a season of emotional overwhelm. You may be wondering who you are now, what comes next, or what is keeping you from moving forward.

My goal is to provide a supportive space where you can begin to rediscover yourself, redefine what healing looks like for you, and replant yourself in a healthier, more grounded place.

My name is Shawnda Dewberry, LMSW. For over a decade, I have had the privilege of working with individuals from many different backgrounds. My greatest passion is helping clients feel seen, supported, and empowered as they navigate life’s challenges, rebuild confidence, and take meaningful steps toward emotional wellness and personal growth.

If you are ready to begin that process, I would be honored to walk alongside you.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is collaborative, supportive, and focused on helping you become a healthier and more confident version of yourself. I believe therapy is a partnership where we work together to identify what is keeping you stuck, build on your strengths, and develop practical tools you can use in your everyday life.

I support clients who are navigating depression, anxiety, stress, relationship challenges, life transitions, low self-esteem, low self-confidence, grief, and emotional overwhelm. My style is warm, easy to talk to, and grounded in creating a safe space where you can feel heard, understood, and supported.

I use a strength-based approach along with CBT, DBT, psychodynamic insight, motivational interviewing, mindfulness, and other evidence-informed techniques to meet each client’s unique needs. When appropriate, group work may also be included in the treatment plan to help clients build connections, practice healthy communication, strengthen coping skills, and feel less alone in their healing process.

My goal is to help you gain clarity, develop healthier patterns, and feel more equipped to manage life’s challenges with confidence and self-awareness.

What you can expect from me

In our first session, you can expect a welcoming and supportive space where we begin getting to know you, your story, and what brings you to therapy. We will talk about your current concerns, explore what you hope to gain from counseling, and begin identifying goals that feel meaningful and realistic for you.

Therapy is a process of building self-understanding, learning new tools, and developing healthier ways to view yourself, your relationships, and life’s challenges. Together, we will work on recognizing patterns, strengthening coping skills, and creating small but meaningful changes that support your growth.

It is important to remember that therapy is not a magic pill or a quick fix. Healing takes time, honesty, participation, and a willingness to invest in yourself. The good news is that even small steps can lead to powerful and lasting change.

My hope is that you leave the first session feeling heard, supported, and encouraged as we begin the work together.
