Great to meet you!

Hi! I'm Shelby, and I'm looking forward to helping you improve your life in the simplest and most effective ways possible. I am an LCSW, receiving my BSW and MSW from The University of South Carolina. I have experience in community mental health and residential mental health treatment, and have worked with clients with MDD, GAD, schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, bipolar disorder, OCD, ADHD, BPD, and more.

A bit about my approach to therapy

I focus on small, achievable goals that are tailored to you and your life, in order to help move the needle toward who you want to be. I utilize approaches from CBT, DBT, ACT, solution focused therapy, and motivational interviewing to bring focus to what you can control in your life, and in order to make changes in thoughts and behaviors. I enjoy providing psycho education to clients, and helping them to understand why they may observe certain thoughts and behaviors in themselves, if that feels important. My approach is always trauma informed as well!

What you can expect from our first session

In a session with me, you can expect to be heard, empathized with, and validated, as I seek to understand your reality as it stands, and how you would like to change it. We will probably get to know each other for a few weeks and then begin to set goals as we both see appropriate. I'm not afraid to challenge discrepancy when I see it and to call attention to any truths I may observe!
