Great to meet you!

As a licensed clinical social worker, my position is to help you work through the challenges that are affecting your ability to live a healthy lifestyle mentally, emotionally, psychically and mentally. As your clinical social worker, functioning as a therapist I will focus on how social factors and systems are affecting your wellness and help you create strategies to address them.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

As a clinical social worker, my work with my clients extend beyond therapy. I am trained to focus in on finding solutions and creating ways to prevent past or present behaviors that have serve as a wall from you getting to the life and relationships you desire. I am attentive to the needs of my clients and understand that there is no one way to help them all. All strategies are created with the client and are unique to their needs. All of my clients receive homework to help them dive deeper and find what it is they may be missing or desire. I host workshops and events that are geared to helping them grow and find community with like minded individuals. In-person sessions are available to those who reside in DC, Maryland and Virginia.

My approach to therapy

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

As a licensed clinical social worker I prioritize empowering individuals and communities to identify and leverage their strengths and resources to achieve positive change, rather than dwelling on problems or past traumas. I use a strengths-based approach, that focus on what clients can do rather than what they can not . My approach recognizes that individuals possess inherent strengths and resources that can be utilized to overcome challenges. I also have collaborative approach, where I, the social worker, and you, the client, work together to identify goals, develop solutions, and track progress. My approach is also client-centered, it empowers individuals to take ownership of their own change process. With solution focused brief therapy I foster hope, resilience, and a sense of agency in clients. This can be particularly important for individuals who have experienced trauma or adversity.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I used CBT because it is a well-established, effective, and practical approach to helping clients manage mental health concerns, change negative thought patterns, and improve their overall well-being. It focuses on the connection between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, aiming to help individuals identify and change unhelpful thought patterns and behaviors.

Narrative

I use this approach because it empowers individuals to reframe their experiences, challenge dominant narratives, and create more positive and empowering life stories, ultimately fostering self-awareness and promoting social justice.

Person-centered (Rogerian)

This approach emphasizes the client's unique experiences, strengths, and self-determination as crucial for positive change and well-being, fostering empowerment and collaboration.
