Great to meet you!

I'm Sherri — an LCSW, a small-town NC girl, and the founder of MindWell Tranquility. I built this practice for people who've been strong for a long time and are finally ready to put that weight down. My clients are often women — many of them Black women — who are navigating anxiety, loss, trauma, or that persistent feeling of not quite being enough, even when they're doing everything right.

My path into this work is personal. I was raised by a fiercely resilient single mother who taught me what strength looks like — and also showed me that even the strongest people need support. That truth is at the core of how I show up for every client. You won't feel judged here. You'll feel heard — often for the first time in a long time.

My approach to therapy

My practice is culturally responsive and grounded in evidence-based methods — Trauma-Focused CBT, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, Strength-Based, and Narrative Therapy. In plain terms, that means we work together to understand the patterns keeping you stuck, connect your past experiences to your present challenges, and build skills that actually hold up in real life.

I don't use a one-size-fits-all approach. If you come to me carrying grief that's never been named, we'll name it. If anxiety has been running the show, we'll figure out why — and work together to change that. I pay attention to how culture, family systems, and identity shape mental health in ways that generic therapy often misses. For clients with a history of trauma, I move at your pace — always. You're in control of this process.

What you can expect from me

Our first session is a conversation — not an interrogation. Expect me to ask questions, listen carefully, and hold space for whatever you bring, even if you're not sure how to put it into words yet. I'll share a little about how I work and what I'm noticing. By the end, we'll have a sense of where to begin and you'll have a clearer picture of what working together could look like.

You don't need to have it all figured out before you call. Most of my clients come in saying, "I just know something needs to change." That's enough to start. I offer telehealth sessions across North Carolina — which means you can show up as you are, wherever you are.
