Great to meet you!

Hi, I’m Shirley! My passion for counseling is deeply connected to my belief that healing is possible, even when life feels overwhelming. I strive to create a warm, safe, and nonjudgmental space where you can be honest about what you’re experiencing, better understand yourself, and develop the tools you need to move forward. If you are navigating life transitions, difficult relationships, stress or anxiety, depression, grief and loss, or simply feel 'stuck' in some aspect of your life, I'd love the opportunity to support you. I’m a licensed mental health counselor with over 11 years of experience.

I earned my Master of Science in Counseling and Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of walking alongside people from many different backgrounds as they’ve faced some of life’s most difficult seasons.

For clients who desire it, I also welcome the opportunity to integrate their faith and biblical principles into therapy. I believe emotional health and spiritual well-being can work together as we pursue healing, resilience, and wholeness.

My approach to therapy

I believe therapy should be a place where you feel both supported and empowered. I’ll listen without judgment, ask thoughtful questions, gently challenge you when needed, and help you develop practical tools you can use beyond the therapy room.

My approach to therapy is warm, collaborative, practical, and tailored to you. I primarily use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and other evidence-based strategies to help you understand the connection between your experiences, thoughts, emotions, and behaviors.

Together, we may explore the beliefs and patterns that have developed through your life experiences, identify those that may no longer be serving you well, and learn healthier ways of thinking, coping, and responding.

Faith is also an important resource for many of my clients. If desired, we can thoughtfully incorporate aspects of your faith, Scripture, prayer, and spiritual values into the therapeutic process while also utilizing sound, evidence-based mental health practices. My goal is to help you experience greater healing, resilience, and wholeness—emotionally, relationally, and spiritually.

What you can expect from me

You don’t have to arrive with everything figured out or know exactly where to begin. I’ll help guide the conversation as needed and give you space to share at a pace that feels comfortable.

Our first session is really about getting to know You—not just the challenges that brought you to therapy, but the person behind them. We’ll talk about what has been happening in your life, what feels difficult right now, what you’ve already tried, and what you hope will be different as a result of therapy. We’ll also begin identifying your strengths and developing goals that feel meaningful and realistic for you.

Most importantly, I want you to leave your first session feeling heard, understood, and hopeful that there is a path forward. Together, we’ll begin creating a plan to help you move toward greater peace, healing, and the life you want to live.
