Great to meet you!

Hi there! I’m Dr. Susie, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in MI, IL, and FL with a Ph.D. in Marriage and Family Therapy. I work with individuals and couples who feel stuck — whether that looks like ongoing relationship conflicts, communication breakdowns, emotional distance, anxiety, low mood, or feeling overwhelmed by past or present life stressors. Many of my clients come to therapy feeling unsure where to start, but knowing that something needs to change.

I offer a warm, structured, and supportive space where we can slow things down, make sense of what is happening, and work toward feeling more grounded, connected, and confident in your daily life and relationships.

My approach to therapy

As humans, we are inherently social beings who thrive on emotional connection. I approach therapy from a systemic perspective, which means I view challenges not as isolated problems within a person, but within the context of relationships, family experiences, and life environments. Together, we focus on understanding the patterns that keep you stuck and creating meaningful and lasting change. I integrate EMDR to help process trauma and emotional wounds, and the Gottman Method to help couples strengthen communication, trust, and emotional connection.

What you can expect from me

In our first session, we will slow things down and focus on what has been most difficult for you and what you hope will be different. From a systemic perspective, we will not only discuss symptoms or current struggles, but also begin to understand the patterns that may be maintaining these difficulties. This may include exploring relationship dynamics, family experiences, and other important parts of your life context. Together, we will start identifying goals for therapy and how we can begin shifting these patterns in meaningful ways. You do not need to have everything figured out—my role is to help organize the process and make it feel clear and manageable.
