Great to meet you!

I am Sue Shankle ,a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with over 40 years of experience — including 30 years of full licensure — specializing in supporting individuals navigating grief, anxiety, depression, trauma, and significant life changes. I hope to bring a warm, compassionate presence to my work, and am truly honored to walk alongside clients as they make the changes that matter most to them. Drawing on systems theory and solution-focused approaches, she helps clients identify their strengths and find practical pathways forward. I have a special passion for working with older adults — and as a senior myself, I bring not only deep professional expertise but a personal understanding of the unique challenges and transitions that come with this season of life. I accept most insurance plans, to hopefully make my services accessible to those who need them.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is grounded in warmth, compassion, and a deep respect for each person’s unique story. I believe that meaningful change begins in a safe, supportive space where clients feel truly seen and heard. I strive to create that environment so we can work together in a way that feels collaborative, empowering, and tailored to your needs.

I view therapy as a partnership. Rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach, I meet you where you are and adapt our work to what feels most helpful and meaningful for you. Whether you are navigating grief, anxiety, depression, trauma, or a major life transition, my goal is to support you in finding clarity, resilience, and a sense of direction.

What you can expect from me

Our first session is also an opportunity for you to get a sense of how I work and to decide if this feels like a good fit for you. Therapy is a partnership, and it’s important that you feel safe and supported in the process.

We’ll start by talking about what brought you to therapy and what you’re hoping for moving forward. You can share as much or as little as feels right — this is your time, and we will go at a pace that feels comfortable for you.

I also like to spend time learning about your strengths, supports, and what has helped you navigate difficult moments in the past. This helps us begin identifying practical ways to move forward together. Above all, you can expect to be met with compassion, respect, and a genuine commitment to supporting you in the changes that matter most to you.
