Great to meet you!

Hi, my name is Tameka Givens, and I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC) in the state of North Carolina. In addition, I am a Licensed School Counselor approved by the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction, and I am also a National Certified Counselor (NCC) through the National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC). I have over four years of experience working as a school counselor and over three years of experience providing clinical mental health services.

As a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor, I provide assessment and treatment services to children, adolescents, young adults/college students, and adults. My clinical work primarily consists of outpatient individual therapy services, delivered through telehealth. I have experience supporting clients who are experiencing concerns such as anxiety, stress, depression, adjustment-related difficulties, ADHD, and interpersonal relationship challenges.

My approach to therapy

My therapeutic approach is grounded in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and incorporates Person-Centered Therapy and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy interventions, tailored to each client’s needs and goals. I believe clients can make meaningful changes in their lives and identify solutions when provided with appropriate support, insight, and tools. My role is to serve as a facilitator in this process by helping clients strengthen self-awareness, develop healthier thought patterns, improve coping skills, and increase confidence and self-esteem.

What you can expect from me

I am committed to providing a supportive, nonjudgmental, and emotionally safe environment where clients can explore challenges openly and work toward personal growth. Rather than offering advice or directing outcomes, I aim to empower clients through insight, skill-building, and collaboration.

While therapy can involve deep emotional and personal exploration, it is important to recognize that the counseling relationship is professional rather than social. Maintaining clear ethical and professional boundaries is a vital component of effective therapy, and I uphold these boundaries to support a healthy therapeutic alliance and positive clinical outcomes.
