Great to meet you!

Hey — I'm genuinely glad you're here. I'm Tamika, a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor based in North Carolina. I work with adults, children, and families navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, ADHD, family conflict, addiction, and the kind of stress that builds quietly over time until it's hard to ignore. I specialize in working with Black and BIPOC clients, women, and families who want a therapist who truly gets the cultural and personal context of their lives — not just a clinical checklist. My practice is fully telehealth, so you can access support from anywhere in North Carolina without the commute or the waiting room. I accept Aetna, Cigna, Carelon Behavioral Health, and other major insurance plans, because access to quality mental health care shouldn't be a financial obstacle.

My approach to therapy

I don't believe in one-size-fits-all therapy. My approach is flexible and grounded in what you actually need — not what the textbook says. Depending on what you're working through, I draw from CBT, DBT, Gestalt, motivational interviewing, play therapy (for children), psychoeducation, and strength-based models. What stays consistent: I start with your strengths. I believe you already have resilience inside you — my job is to help you access it, build on it, and use it to navigate the challenges you're facing. I won't project, judge, or push you faster than you're ready to move. I will be honest with you, challenge you when it's helpful, and celebrate your wins alongside you.

What you can expect from me

Your first session is a conversation, not an evaluation. We'll talk about what brought you in, what's been weighing on you, and what you hope to feel or experience differently. I'll ask questions, but there's no pressure to have everything figured out — most people don't, and that's okay. For children and families, the first session is about building trust and making sure everyone feels comfortable, including the parents. I'll explain how I work and we'll figure out together what the right pace and focus looks like. By the end of our first session, you'll have a clear sense of what working together looks like — and whether it feels like the right fit. I want this to be a space where you actually want to show up.
