Great to meet you!

I am a dedicated Christian Counselor with over 17 years of experience, specializing in the treatment of children, adolescents, young adults, and parents. With a warm and relaxed manner, I quickly put others at ease while adeptly navigating the most complex cases.

Over my career, I have pursued additional training in the field of traumatology. I have extensive experience working with issues surrounding childhood trauma, foster care, adoption, Neurodevelopmental Disorders, and Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder/ND-PAE.

I am a Maryland native and love spending time with my husband and three children. I enjoy being involved at my church, reading aloud to my kiddos, and all things outdoors!

My approach to therapy

I am trained in many evidence-based treatments and espouse an eclectic modality approach depending on the needs of each client. For example, those experiencing trauma and wanting to change thought patterns, TF-CBT (trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy) may be utilized. For others who may just feel overwhelmed or stuck, a solution-focused model may be more helpful.

Most importantly, I know that healing and wholeness comes through Christ alone and do my best to keep this truth at the forefront of treatment. No matter what modality is used, I approach each client as a spiritual, emotional, and physical being that is in need of deeper transformation that exceeds the goal of symptom relief.

What you can expect from me

With support, collaboration, and a Christ-centered perspective, my clients develop a deeper sense of self-worth, more satisfying relationships, an increase in life-contentment, and more consistent levels of emotional and spiritual health. Weekly sessions will typically involve prayer at the beginning/end of the meeting time, brief check-ins with caregivers, discussion and problem-solving with the primary client, and conclude with an identified focus area/action item for all parties for the week.

I have focused heavily on work with youth and their parents struggling with problematic symptoms and behaviors such as; depression, anxiety, grief, unstable mood, inattention, impulsivity, suicidality, self-injurious behaviors, and parent-child relational problems. In addressing these issues early with evidence-based interventions, I have had the joy of seeing clients experience a transition into a happier, healthier adulthood.

In 17+ years, I have helped countless youth and their families improve their lives and discard the things that are holding them back. I believe everyone was created to be whole and I would love the opportunity to help you move into the life you were made for!
