Great to meet you!

I'm Tayla — an LCPCS in Maryland, which means I hold both a clinical counseling license and a supervisory designation. I've spent the past 8 years doing this work, and the thing that's never changed is what I care about most: helping people feel genuinely heard, sometimes for the first time. I specialize in couples therapy, women's issues, cultural and identity work, and supporting adults navigating anxiety, panic, anger, and the weight of managing everything on their own. As a Black woman, I bring particular intention to working with clients navigating the intersections of culture, identity, and mental health — clients who want a therapist who doesn't need everything explained from scratch. My style is direct, energetic, and fully invested in where you're actually trying to go.

My approach to therapy

My approach depends on what you bring to the room. For couples, I focus on the communication patterns and emotional habits underneath the surface conflicts — the dynamics that keep you stuck in the same argument, or keep you from being able to reach each other at all. For individuals, I draw on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) — practical, evidence-based tools that work in real life, not just on paper. Across all my work, I'm Strength-Based and Attachment-informed: I believe in building on what you already have, and I pay attention to how your earliest relationships shape the ones you're in now. I don't believe in one-size-fits-all therapy. I'm not going to hand you a worksheet and call it a session.

What you can expect from me

Expect a conversation — not an interrogation. I'll ask about what's going on, what you've already tried, and what "better" would actually look like in your real life. For couples, I'll hear from both of you and get a clear sense of where things feel most stuck before I offer anything. By the end of your first session, you'll know exactly what working together looks like — and whether this feels like the right fit. Most people leave feeling less alone with whatever brought them in.
