Great to meet you!

My name is Ted Bost and I began working in a therapeutic setting in 2006 after finishing my undergraduate studies. I was fortunate enough to work in collaborative setting with several brilliant and experienced therapists that took me under their wing and helped to fine tune my intuitions while working directly with clients. After much encouragement from my therapist mentors I attended graduate school in 2015 and completed my degree/internships by 2017. I was fortunate to already have a job offer before graduation and began my journey as a therapist the week after finishing my master's degree.

I have a diverse clientele experience and have worked with pre-adolescent boys/girls, adolescent boys/girls, parents, mothers, fathers, grandparents, etc. I have worked with individuals who are unhoused, on release from jail, and have significant substance abuse histories. I have worked with many doctors, lawyers, executives, and business people as well. Many of the clients I have worked with have experienced trauma, and have post traumatic growth in some aspects of their life, although they still have difficulties in other areas. Many of the clients I have worked with trend towards feelings of anxiety or live with ADHD. They may also feel depressed at times. Many of the children I have worked with have learning differences and may struggle in school, but thrive in other stimulating settings. All the client's I have worked with are often profoundly resilient, but may have trouble seeing this in themselves. I have attended 150+ hours of therapy myself over the past 15 years in attempt to both heal and grow.

In my personal life I enjoy many different outdoor activities, spending time with family and friends, reading, and riding around the west in a truck camper.

My approach to therapy

Research says again and again that the therapeutic relationship is the most valuable aspect of the experience. This is the foundation of my approach. Building self awareness in life is noted as the second most beneficial and I believe helping to cultivate this is crucial. Knowledge is power and often people can build the awareness and skills to "be their own therapist" during much of life. I believe it is a therapist duty to help client's cultivate these skills.

I utilize an eclectic approach of different theoretical modalities. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is highly researched and pragmatic, behavioral therapy is helpful to pull out of a rut, solution focused approaches are straightforward, and mindfulness helps people accept, or at least recognize the passing moments that always move on.

I have a trauma informed approach and training in EMDR as well. I believe that humans trend towards wellness, and when their needs are met, they will ultimately learn and grow to be their best self.

What you can expect from me

I want to get to know the person I am talking to. I may ask questions to better understand what a client is saying or I can just listen. I may ask clients to share their goals for therapy. My role is to offer unconditional positive regard.
