Great to meet you!

I am originally from a small town in rural southeastern NC. We are home to the World’s Largest Frying Pan, however, I don’t remember any events of it being used! I worked in the mental health and substance use arenas for a total of 10 years before I decided to become a therapist. I noticed as a case manager we help clients with their external needs food, transportation, securing employment, and independent living skills. If someone is holding on to past traumatic events or new ones, they will not be able to function as a whole person. My goal as a therapist is to help people help themselves. We can be the villain in our own story, but we must learn how to eventually save ourselves.

My approach to therapy

In therapy, after identifying the problem or root(s) of the problem, clients tend to solely focus on it. In utilizing solution-focused techniques, we learn how to help ourselves.

What you can expect from me

Our first session is basically a “get to know you” and “get to know me” encounter. You identify what you desire to address and we go from there.
