Great to meet you!

Hello, I’m Dr. Thuydy (pronounced “Tweety”). I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Certified Sex Therapist, and I hold a Ph.D. in Clinical Sexology. I work with individuals and couples who are navigating intimacy challenges, compulsive sexual behaviors, trauma, and relationship concerns.

Many clients come to therapy feeling stuck in patterns of shame, disconnection, or ongoing conflict, especially when sexuality, trust, or past experiences are involved. My doctoral research focused on trauma-informed treatment for compulsive sexual behaviors, and I bring that work into therapy with compassion, respect, and a nonjudgmental approach.

My therapeutic style is trauma-informed, sex-positive, shame-resilient, and inclusive. I aim to create a space where clients feel safe being honest about their experiences without fear of judgment. I work affirmingly with LGBTQIA+ individuals, people exploring kink or BDSM, and those in nontraditional relationship structures such as ethical non-monogamy or polyamory.

In our work together, we focus on understanding patterns, building emotional and relational safety, and developing practical tools for change. I integrate evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Narrative Therapy, somatic interventions, and shame-resilience frameworks to support healing in a way that feels grounded and personalized.

As a multicultural therapist, I also recognize how culture, family expectations, identity, and lived experiences shape the way we relate to ourselves and others. Therapy with me is collaborative, supportive, and paced with care. My goal is to help you strengthen communication, rebuild trust, deepen intimacy, and move toward relationships that feel more aligned, connected, and sustainable.

My approach to therapy

My approach is trauma-informed, sex-positive, and results-oriented. I do not sugarcoat or avoid difficult topics. Instead, I provide honest feedback, evidence-based strategies, and structured tools that help you confront challenges directly and begin making real progress. I integrate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), trauma-focused methods, relational therapy, and somatic techniques to address both immediate concerns and deeper patterns. Throughout therapy, you will be supported in expressing yourself authentically, strengthening your boundaries, and building resilience in your relationships and daily life. My goal is to help you understand your patterns, take action, and move toward healing with confidence.

What you can expect from me

Clients can expect clarity, honest feedback, and practical tools they can begin applying right away. My approach is direct and analytical, helping you recognize patterns, understand the “why” behind them, and develop strategies for change. Over time, clients leave our sessions with greater self-awareness, stronger boundaries, and improved communication skills. You will also learn how to manage difficult emotions, reduce shame, and create healthier connections in your relationships. My goal is not only to help you heal, but to equip you with the skills and confidence needed to maintain growth long after therapy ends.
