Great to meet you!

Life can challenge us and sometimes we need a space to breathe and figure out what comes next.

My job is to make sure it feels safe enough for you to show up exactly as you are, on your best days and your hardest. I want you to know I take your healing seriously, even when we laugh together - and we probably will. Humor is part of how I connect and I've found that sometimes the biggest breakthroughs happen in moments of lightness. I won't let comfort become complacency though - I will challenge and empower you to be the author of your story.

I strive to create a therapeutic environment that is warm, affirming, and real.

I am committed to bringing my full self to this work and I'll invite you to do the same.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is rooted in one core belief: you are the expert on your own life. My role is to help you access the wisdom, strength, and resilience that already exist within you - and to help you use them more intentionally.

I practice from a trauma-informed culturally responsive foundation, which means I'm always mindful of how your history, identity, and environment shape your experience. My goal is to help you understand your story.

I draw on a blend of evidence-based approaches tailor to what you actually need. These approaches include:

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help identify the thoughts and patterns that keep you stuck and replace them with ones that actually serve you.
  • Motivational Interviewing to meet you where you are in your readiness for change and help you find your own reasons to move forward.
  • Narrative Therapy to invite you to examine the stories you've been told about yourself - by other's by systems, or by circumstances - and helping you decide which one you want to keep and which no longer resonates with you.

Although no one approach fits every person or every moment, my flexibility and curiosity will help us work together to best meet your needs.

What you can expect from me

First sessions can feel slightly nerve wracking - and that is completely normal. Whether this is your first time in therapy or you're returning after a break, beginning something new takes courage.

Our first session is not about fixing anything. It is about getting to know each other.

You can expect me to ask questions about what brought you to therapy, what's been weighing on you, and what you're hoping life will look like at the end of therapy. I'll also want to learn about your background, relationships, and significant life experiences. My questions are not meant to be an interrogation, it is me genuinely wanting to understand your world before I make any assumptions.

You won't be expected to share everything all at once. We move at your pace. If there are things you're not ready to share that's ok. You will also have the space to ask me questions. The therapeutic relationship is built over time and trust is earned not assumed. I welcome you to show up as you are and we'll build from there.
