Great to meet you!

With over 20 years of experience in the mental health field, I've had the privilege of working across a wide range of treatment settings, including acute care, non-acute care, residential treatment, and outpatient therapy. I work with adolescents and adults and have experience providing individual and couples therapy.

My primary areas of focus include relationship counseling using the Gottman Method, chronic pain and chronic illness through Pain Reprocessing Therapy (PRT), addiction treatment informed by the work of Dr. Carl Hart, and Borderline Personality Disorder using Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT).

In addition to these specialty areas, I frequently help clients navigate anxiety, panic attacks, depression, life transitions, adjustment disorders, parenting challenges, workplace stress, and the everyday demands that can leave us all feeling overwhelmed!

My approach to therapy

I approach therapy with a deep curiosity, compassion, and collaboration. I have a radical interest in the human condition—why we think the way we do, why we suffer, how we adapt, and what allows us to heal and grow. Every person has a unique story, and I believe meaningful therapy begins by understanding that story first and foremost.

Each evidence-based modality offers something valuable, and so I draw from the approache/s that best fit a person's personal needs, goals, personality and life situation. My work has been informed by many approaches over the years such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), the Gottman Method, Pain Reprocessing Therapy (PRT), Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), etc.

If I have a soft spot, it's for Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). I appreciate its emphasis on psychological flexibility, mindfulness, values, and building a meaningful life even in the presence of pain or difficult emotions. Rather than waiting for life to feel perfect before moving forward, ACT helps us learn how to make room for life's inevitable challenges while continuing to invest in what matters most.

What you can expect from me

The first session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another. Rather than jumping straight into problem-solving, I like to begin with what I call a curious assessment—a collaborative conversation where we start sketching a picture of who you are, what has shaped your experiences, what's bringing you to therapy now, and where you'd like your life to go.

We'll explore your current concerns, your history, your strengths, the important relationships in your life, and any patterns you've noticed. My goal isn't simply to gather information, but to genuinely understand you and your unique story.

Just as importantly, the first session is your opportunity to get a feel for me. A strong therapeutic relationship is one of the best predictors of successful therapy, so I encourage questions and want you to leave with a sense of whether we're a good fit.

If time allows, we'll begin identifying some initial goals and discuss what a meaningful outcome from therapy looks like. Those goals aren't set in stone; they'll evolve as we gain a deeper understanding of what's most important to you.
