Great to meet you!

Hi! I am a child psychologist who has been seeing kids and families for over 25 years. I graduated from Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, CA, and completed my postdoctoral training through Wright State University and Children's Hospital in Columbus, OH. I work with kids, teens, and young adults aged 4-25. I also help parents in responding to challenging child/teen behavior and see siblings and families as well. I specialize in a variety of situations, including oppositional behavior, anger control, anxiety, depression, OCD, ADHD, social skills, sibling relationships, family communication, and parent approaches/strategies.

My approach to therapy

I take a fun, practical cognitive-behavioral approach that emphasizes skill building in terms of how kids think and act. We want the therapy sessions to be enjoyable as well as meaningful and practical. You want your kids to learn how to tackle the challenges of life in a smart, confident, and respectful way. We want to build good habits, both in our thinking and acting, to take place of the bad ones that we can so easily slip into. You want your kids to be good problem-solvers and flexible thinkers when things don't go just the way they want. As parents, you want to build close relationships with your kids and teach them the right lessons, the right way. Our goal in therapy work will be to help you and your kids accomplish this within the context of a close, loving family.

What you can expect from me

Initially, we will start with a free, 15-minute consultation to make sure that we are a good fit for each other. If we decide to work together, the first session with me related to any minor child will be just with parents. I will then meet with the child on the second session. If you are over 18, the first session can be with just you (or you and parents), but I may want to meet with parents on the second session just to get some background information as well as their perspective on your childhood and teen years.
