I utilize 4 main evidence-based therapeutic approaches: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (Mindfulness-Bases CBT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). These modalities provide clients with practical, actionable skills to better understand and manage their thoughts and emotions, reduce anxiety, and improve communication in both personal and relational settings.
1. CBT: help clients identify and challenge unhelpful thought patterns that influence mood and behavior. We work together to shift rigid or distorted thinking and replace it with more balanced, realistic beliefs. CBT also involves behavioral strategies to reinforce positive changes and reduce avoidance.
2. Mindfulness-Based CBT: helps clients develop nonjudgmental awareness of their thoughts, emotions, and body sensations. I use mindfulness to teach clients how to observe difficult experiences without becoming overwhelmed so they can respond more effectively rather than react impulsively. This enhances emotional regulation and increases psychological flexibility.
3. ACT: provide guidance to clients in accepting what is out of their control while taking meaningful action aligned with their core values. We focus less on eliminating uncomfortable thoughts and more on changing the relationship to those thoughts so they have less power over their decisions.
4. SFBT: emphasis placed on what’s working for clients and building on their strengths and successes to generate momentum toward their goals. Instead of staying stuck in the problem, I help clients identify their preferred future, track small wins, and amplify progress through focused, hopeful dialogue.
