Great to meet you!

If you're feeling stuck, quick to anger, weighed down by depression, or struggling to focus, you don't have to sort it out on your own. I'm Walter Belk, a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor, and I work with children, adolescents, and adults on ADHD, anger and impulse control, depression, anxiety, stress, grief and trauma. I also care deeply about supporting men who are carrying more than they tend to let on. I'm also a traumatic brain injury survivor, and I've lived through a number of the challenges my clients describe. That experience shapes how I listen and why this work matters to me.

My approach to therapy

I offer individual, family, and group therapy, and I see clients in home and community settings as well as in a traditional office setting. A lot of my work focuses on relationships: how you communicate, what you need from the people closest to you, and where the friction is actually coming from. Alongside that, we look at the specific patterns and behaviors you want to change, and we break them into steps small enough to act on. You set the direction for what we work on, and I'll be honest with you along the way. Sessions are collaborative and paced so they stay manageable, whether you're coming in for yourself or bringing your family with you.

What you can expect from me

Most people leave our first session with a clearer sense of what they want and what's getting in the way. Together we'll name the areas you'd like to work on, and you'll start picking up tools and strategies you can use between sessions rather than only talking about them. You can also expect a calm, supportive space where it's safe to say the difficult thing out loud without being judged for it. Progress looks different for everyone, and my aim is to help you move toward your own goals and feel steadier in your day-to-day life.
