Great to meet you!

My name is Wanda Barnes, I am a licensed mental health therapist LMHC in Florida and a licensed professional counselor (LPC), in the State of Maine. I started working in substance abuse at 17 years old driving the bus that took clients to AA/NA. Many years later I am still passionate about working with those who struggle with addiction of any kind or those who love them. I also worked 9 years with children and families in schools and foster care. Later I opened and operated a mental health clinic in Florida.

My approach to therapy

I am kind to those that need some nurturing to get through their current experiences.

I am willing to give a nudge to those who need it.

I believe in teaching tools, tools that you can use the rest of your life.

Most importantly, I am an imperfect human being who has talked to thousands in her life and has lived enough to learn how to navigate life as well as possible.

What you can expect from me

In the first session expect that I will ask you a million questions so that we can get to know each other better. I truly believe that a therapist is like a pair of shoes, they can be a great, expensive pair of shoes but if they do not fit your feet they are not for you. I want you to take the first session to decide if working with me is best for you. A good therapeutic relationship is extremely important to achieving great results.
