Great to meet you!

I'm William Kotsch, a clinical psychologist and Jungian analyst practicing in Santa Fe, New Mexico. My work focuses on Jungian analysis, psychoanalytic psychotherapy, and spiritual development.

I earned my PhD in Psychology from Vanderbilt University and completed my training in Jungian analysis at the C. G. Jung Institute of Chicago. My professional background includes decades of clinical practice, teaching, and psychological research. My exploration of the inner life also extends into Buddhist contemplative practice, including a three-year retreat at Vajra Vidya Center in Crestone, Colorado.

I'm particularly interested in the deeper patterns, relationships, and questions of meaning that shape our lives. My work offers an opportunity to explore not only the difficulties you're experiencing, but also what those experiences may reveal about your inner life and your understanding of yourself.

My approach to therapy

My approach is rooted in Jungian analysis and psychoanalytic psychotherapy. Both involve looking beyond immediate difficulties to understand the deeper, sometimes unconscious patterns that influence how we think, feel, and relate to others.

Our work may involve exploring personal history, relationships, dreams, and experiences that continue to carry meaning in your life. Rather than following a predetermined formula, I believe in approaching each person with curiosity and careful attention.

For me, therapy is a collaborative process of developing greater self-understanding, becoming more aware of what has been overlooked, and discovering new possibilities for how we live.

What you can expect from me

Our first meeting is an opportunity to get acquainted and begin exploring what brings you to therapy.

I'd like to hear about what's happening in your life, what concerns you, and what you're hoping to understand or work through. We may talk about your personal history, important relationships, or experiences that feel particularly meaningful or difficult.

You don't need to arrive with everything figured out or know exactly where to begin. We can start with what's most present for you.

It's also an opportunity to ask questions about my approach and consider whether working together feels like a good fit.
