My approach to therapy

I enjoy helping individuals cope and adjust to living with chronic medical conditions. My specialty areas include the following:

▪︎Obesity

▪︎Problematic eating behaviors

▪︎Binge-eating disorder

▪︎Pre-diabetes/diabetes

▪︎Chronic pain

▪︎Gastrointestinal disorders (Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), Irritable Bowel Disease (IBD), Crohn's)

▪︎Pre and post bariatric surgery counseling

▪︎Presurgical-psychological evaluations (Bariatric-surgery evaluations)

I use specialized training in behavioral-medicine, cognitive-behavioral therapy, psychological principles, and evidenced-based treatments including nutritional-psychology to promote lifestyle and health-behavior changes that enhance treatment outcomes.

What you can expect from me

During the initial visit we'll use a bio-psycho-social approach to exploring your history and journey thus far so that I can better understand your medical condition(s), health goals, lifestyle habits, past success, previous and ongoing challenges, illness perception and general mood, and other influencing factors.

Your journey is unique and treatment is customized to your circumstances. I can help you target problematic cognitions, behaviors, emotions, and lifestyle habits that hamper progress towards your desired health-habits or goals. These strategies will nicely compliment your ongoing medical care.

Life is a journey. Don't let the barriers such as stress, anxiety, past failures, decreased motivation, and other elements sabotage your efforts and progress. Make a change starting today. Live longer, be stronger, and thrive.
