Great to meet you!

Zacharia H. Kabia, LCPC; MHS; MA; CISM.

I’m a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor in Maryland providing individual therapy to ages 8-68, focusing on young adults, adolescents, young parents, and adults. I’ve worked in community mental health settings, school mental health, nursing homes, acute care hospitals, inpatient psychiatric facilities, child and family agencies, community health, mental health advocacy organizations, and private practice. I utilize a variety of techniques and skills drawn from recognized therapeutic modalities including Psychotherapy (Talk Therapy): CBT, DBT, Exposure Therapy, IPT, Family/ Marital Therapy. Also utilized Solution Focused, Psychoeducation, Play Therapy, Behavior Modification, and Mindfulness, Relaxation.

I’m a passionate advocate for child and family health, racial equity, and bringing high quality prevention and trauma-informed services and solutions for some of the most pressing issues facing vulnerable children, families, and communities. I’m a therapist with a deep commitment to inclusivity, embracing individuals from diverse backgrounds. I adopt a holistic approach that recognizes the interconnectedness of mind, body, and spirit. My practice is founded on the belief that true healing involves addressing the individual. I strive to create a therapeutic environment that is culturally sensitive, affirming, and inclusive. By understanding the unique experiences and perspectives of each client, I utilize a tailored approach to meet clients’ specific needs.

My approach to therapy

My approach to counseling is generally tailored, integrative, and client-centered, often combining evidence-based practices like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) for practical problem-solving with psychodynamic techniques to understand deeper, unconscious patterns. This collaborative method focuses on building a strong therapeutic alliance to address specific needs, fostering growth through self-discovery and skill-building.
