Great to meet you!

Dr. Bridget Williams is a licensed psychologist who specializes in trauma work and maternal mental wellness. She believes in using the therapeutic relationship to focus on your strengths and assets in order to empower you to live an emotionally healthy and fulfilling life. She brings a compassionate and curious approach to her work to effectively meet your needs. She works with adults (18+).

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is informed by Adlerian and Constructivist Theories, which understands an individual’s experience of the world based on his or her subjective and personal perception of self, others, and the world. I believe in using the therapeutic relationship to focus on your strengths and assets in order to empower you with the tools to live emotionally healthy and safe lifestyles. I strive to facilitate a trusting atmosphere through which to empower, inspire, and challenge. Together we will explore aspects of your life - the thoughts, beliefs, and feelings - that are creating conflict and challenges.

What you can expect from me

Typically, during the intake session, we will discuss what is bringing in for therapy, what you hope to get out of therapy, and some basic background information about you. We will explore any questions or concerns you have about therapy, my approach to treatment to help determine whether you feel comfortable working with me, and if I am a good fit for your needs. At the end of your initial intake, we will review your goals for therapy, the type of therapy that would be most beneficial for you, frequency of sessions, and schedule your next appointment. The intake session is about 60 minutes long.

Therapy is work. It involves a significant commitment of time, money, and energy. I encourage you to be thoughtful about the therapist you select. One of the key elements of what makes talk therapy effective is the therapeutic relationship. If we determine that working together is not in your best interest, I will provide appropriate referrals for other clinicians in your area.
