Great to meet you!

I am trained as a Professional Counselor. During my academic training, in addition to my degree, I am EMDR trained. After my academic training, I started working at MeadowWood Behavioral hospital, an acute psychiatric unit. I worked with adolescents, substance abuse, and adult clients. I have worked with the Kent county health department implementing substance abuse prevention programs in middle and high schools. I believe in the old proverb "an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure". Since 2016 I have been working with the Community Behavioral health providing services in an outpatient setting.

My approach to therapy

Life is not about being able to control the weather, its about learning to dance in the rain. Learning how to dance in the rain is just like learning any other type of dance. It’s a process that can be a challenging one. It can seem impossible at times. This process has been one that I have learned both professionally and personally. I have seen how trauma can impact a child and become a part of their identity as an adult. I have also seen when a person has a breakthrough and the freedom that brings to them to start enjoying their life. I want to be there to help you stop just surviving and start thriving.

I use a combination of different evidence-based interventions that are crafted to cater to the needs of each client individually.

We can explore using EMDR to help uncover what is holding you in the past and causing disturbances in your life today!

What you can expect from me

The first session's focus is on getting to know each other and becoming comfortable with therapy.
