Great to meet you!

I’m Darrell Benko, a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner with experience helping children, teens, and adults manage anxiety, depression, ADHD, bipolar disorder, trauma, stress, and life transitions. I also have a background in primary care, hospice, and palliative care, which helps me look at the whole person rather than only the diagnosis. My goal is to provide thoughtful, practical, and evidence-based care in a setting where clients feel heard, respected, and supported.

My approach to therapy

My approach is collaborative, supportive, and realistic. I work with clients to understand what is affecting their mood, focus, sleep, relationships, and daily functioning, then we build a treatment plan together. When medication is appropriate, I focus on clear education, careful monitoring, and choosing options that fit the client’s goals and lifestyle. I also incorporate supportive therapy, CBT-informed strategies, coping skills, and lifestyle considerations when helpful.

What you can expect from me

During the first session, clients can expect a calm, respectful, and nonjudgmental conversation about what brought them in, what they have tried before, and what they hope will improve. We will review symptoms, history, medications, safety concerns, and personal goals so we can create a clear plan together. My goal is for clients to leave the first visit with a better understanding of what may be going on and the next steps toward feeling better.
