Great to meet you!

I specialize in relationship therapy, including but not limited to marriage and family therapy. I suggest some individual sessions so that I can get to know each of the participants. I am interested in how your early life may have impacted your current thinking and beliefs about life in general. I will not seek to change these beliefs but will gently nudge you to explore other ways of thinking and believing. I will utilize any number of modalities -- ones suited to you and your situation.

My approach to therapy

I work from a respectful point of view. That includes respectful behavior among all parties involved in the therapy, including myself.

I specialize in several areas: (1) relationship therapy which can involve attachment theory; (2) development of self-esteem and self-confidence, which often begins with release of "minor" to major traumas; (3) development of the Self, often aided by techniques of Internal Family Systems; (4) use of EMDR or similar methods to re-regulate the nervous system; (5) use of the Myers Briggs Type Indicator to help you understand yourself and others. Many other tools including the use of clinical hypnosis are described on my website, www.beyondthehorizonsconsulting.com.

What you can expect from me

I enjoy creating an environment which is open to anything the client is ready to share. I do have initial questions but prefer to embellish them to allow clients to add as much "flavor" as they would like, and I encourage them to ask questions of me as well. We usually complete the first session knowing something about their challenges, as well as a sense of their desired goals for themselves. Clients generally feel that they have established some rapport with me at the end of the first session.
