Great to meet you!

I'm John Tzanos, PhD, a licensed psychologist offering online therapy for adults, with a particular focus on OCD and anxiety. I also work with ADHD, insomnia, depression, trauma-related concerns, relationship stress, hair pulling, and skin picking. Alongside training in ERP, ACT, CBT, and EFT, I've completed clinical hypnosis training through the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis.

My interests in neuroscience and philosophy reflect a curiosity about how people change and what makes life meaningful. Understanding your experience includes getting to know your relationships, the challenges you face, and what matters to you. I offer sessions in English and Greek.

My approach to therapy

My style is warm, direct, and collaborative. I draw primarily on acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), alongside cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). For OCD, I use exposure and response prevention (ERP), which involves gradually approaching feared situations or uncertainty while practicing resisting compulsions. Clinical hypnosis may be incorporated when appropriate.

Together, we'll explore what keeps difficulties going and practice skills you can use in everyday life. This might involve responding differently to intrusive thoughts, changing habits that provide short-term relief but keep you stuck, or taking steps toward something important to you. I explain the reasoning behind treatment and welcome your feedback. There is room for thoughtful reflection, with attention to how our work translates into meaningful change.

What you can expect from me

Our first session focuses on understanding what brings you to therapy and what you hope will change. I'll ask about your current concerns, relevant background, and previous experiences with treatment, including what has or hasn't helped. You don't need to arrive with a polished explanation; I'll help guide the conversation.

We'll begin identifying your priorities and discuss how we might work together. You'll have space to ask questions about my approach and share any concerns about starting therapy. My aim is for you to leave with an initial sense of direction and a clearer understanding of whether working with me feels like a good fit.
