Great to meet you!

Hi there! Are you feeling overwhelmed, burnt out, stressed out with life? Do you often feel anxiety or depression that you just can't get a handle on? Please know that you are not alone. My name is Julie Scott, and I am licensed as a Clinical Social Worker to provide Mental Health Therapy services. I am licensed in Arkansas and Maine with 21 years of professional work experience. I have extensive experience in helping clients with stress and anxiety, coping with addictions, relationship issues, and depression. My experience and training also include working with the veteran population, women's issues, and postpartum depression.

My interest in becoming a therapist began in high school. I took a Psychology class and absolutely loved it. I went on to get my BA in Psychology and then a Masters in Clinical Social Work. Also- growing up, I struggled with anxiety and never knew how to get help with this until I was an adult. I don't want people to struggle with anxiety, depression, relationship issues, etc. when there is help and support out there. I genuinely feel that people deserve more peace/acceptance and can feel fulfilled in their lives with the right support and skills.

My approach to therapy

My approach to providing therapy focuses on rapport and trust building in the first few sessions so that you as a client can feel more comfortable in sharing with me. Most of my clients are in therapy with me for 2-3 months on average, and I will often review our progress during sessions as we continue with your treatment. The therapeutic modalities I most often utilize include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Reality Therapy, Solution Focused, and Acceptance/Commitment Therapy (ACT). I am often client-centered in my approach to treatment, which helps us to stay on track with goals to address anything new that has occurred.

I believe in treating everyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion. I will tailor our dialog and treatment plan to meet your unique and specific needs. Taking the first step to seeking a more fulfilling and happier life takes courage. I am here to support you in that process.

What you can expect from me

Our first session will focus on getting to know one another. I encourage you to share whatever you feel comfortable sharing with me. I am informal and enjoy laughing/sharing stories with my clients.

I typically approach goal setting as client-centered. My clinical opinion is that we should begin and set goals according to your greatest needs/opinions. I often check in on goal progress during sessions to ensure we are going in the direction you want with your goals. We often make it more of a collaborative approach to goal setting as we get to know each other.
