Kathryn Peters

I graduated with a Bachelors in Science in Recreation from Green Mountain College and then went on to get my Masters in Social Work from the University of Vermont. I have been licensed since 2012 but have been working in the industry in different capacities since 2003. My career has taken me down different paths allowing me to work in residential treatment, wilderness therapy, as a school social worker, in community mental health, as a hospital social worker (working in the ICU, medical surgical unit, and ER), and now working at Stable Connections, providing equine assisted treatments.

Stable Connections, Inc. is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit charitable organization located in Guildhall, VT and is the only certified facility utilizing Equine Assisted Psychotherapy, Equine Assisted Learning, and Equilateral the equine assisted EMDR protocol in northern Vermont and New Hampshire.

At Stable Connections, we provide a team approach. With Kathy Peters, LICSW as the mental health professional, Karen Caron as the equine specialist, the horses, and client working together to support your individual treatment. Our approach to therapy is experiential, strengths based, and client centered.

At Stable Connections we specialize in equine assisted treatments. We are certified through EAGALA to provide equine assisted psychotherapy and learning and have also done additional training to receive our military designation. Kathy Peters is certified in EMDR through EMDRIA and Karen and Kathy furthered this training by getting trained in Equilateral, the equine assisted EMDR protocol.

The first session is spent getting to know one another and introducing you to the horses. Our goal in the first session is to get a sense of your goals for treatment without getting into too much of your past history too fast. This is to ensure your safety and give us the opportunity to make sure we are all a good fit for one another.
