Great to meet you!

You may know that something needs to change, even if you cannot always explain why you feel the way you do. Anxiety may keep your mind working overtime, depression can make it difficult to feel motivated or connected, stress may leave you constantly on edge, or anger and grief can begin affecting your relationships and everyday life. I provide virtual individual therapy for adolescents, adults, and seniors in Arkansas, Florida, Maryland, Mississippi, Virginia, and Washington, with a focus on anxiety, depression, stress management, anger management, and grief and loss. I also support clients navigating trauma and PTSD, family and relationship concerns, cultural and ethnic issues, women's issues, maternal mental health, end of life concerns, and the emotional impact of physical health or chronic conditions. With more than 15 years of experience as a clinical social worker, my goal is to meet you where you are, help you understand what is contributing to your struggles, and empower you to create meaningful change.

My approach to therapy

I believe understanding where a pattern began can help you make different choices about where it goes next. What brings you to therapy today may be connected to experiences from earlier in life, so when it is relevant, we may explore childhood memories, past relationships, trauma, or other experiences that continue to influence the way you think, feel, and respond now. Anxiety, depression, stress, anger, or grief may be the most visible concern, while family difficulties, relationship patterns, PTSD, cultural experiences, women's issues, or health challenges can add important layers to what you are carrying. Rather than treating those concerns as separate problems, we will look at how they connect while keeping your current goals at the center of therapy. I may use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to help you identify and change unhelpful thought and behavior patterns, Solution Focused Brief Therapy to identify practical next steps, Motivational Interviewing to strengthen your motivation for change, Seeking Safety and Trauma Focused CBT when trauma is affecting the present, and Strength Based or behavioral approaches to build on the abilities you already have.

What you can expect from me

You can expect me to start with where you are, not where anyone thinks you should be. During our first few sessions, we will talk about what brought you to therapy, what has been most difficult lately, what may have contributed to those challenges, and what you would genuinely like to be different. Together, we will create realistic goals and determine which experiences or patterns are most important to explore. My style is direct, open minded, and empowering, so I will provide a supportive space while also asking questions and offering perspectives that can help you grow. Progress may look like responding differently to stress or anger, feeling less controlled by anxiety, reconnecting with yourself during depression, processing grief or trauma, strengthening relationships, or developing healthier ways to cope with difficult circumstances. My goal is for you to leave therapy with greater understanding of yourself and greater confidence in your ability to handle what comes next.
