Great to meet you!

With more than 34 years of experience as a practicing social worker and clinician, I bring depth, compassion, and seasoned clinical skill to every therapeutic relationship. Over the course of my career, I have provided therapy through telehealth and in diverse settings including schools, hospitals, rehabilitation centers, nursing homes, correctional facilities, Veterans facilities, clinics, and clients’ homes. These experiences have shaped a flexible, grounded approach that meets you where you are.

--------------------------------------------------------------

I earned my Master of Social Work from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock and my Doctorate from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. I have also served as an Assistant Professor in the School of Social Work at New Mexico State University, teaching graduate students research and clinical practice. This combination of real-world experience and academic leadership allows me to offer therapy that is both deeply human and informed by evidence-based practice.

My approach to therapy

If you are struggling with sadness, hopelessness, helplessness, or despair, you are not alone. Together, we will explore the environmental stressors, thought patterns, and core beliefs that may be contributing to these feelings. My goal is to help you respond to life’s challenges with greater clarity, strength, and self-advocacy.

---------------------------------------------------------------

Grief and bereavement—at any stage of life—can feel overwhelming and disorienting. In our work together, we will gently reduce that sense of confusion and create space for emotional healing. I also have extensive experience supporting individuals living with chronic pain and physical disability. Your lived experience will be respected and validated, and we will build on your inherent resilience and strengths.

-------------------------------------------------------------------

Creating a safe, affirming, and respectful therapeutic environment for members of the LGBTQI+ community is central to my values. I am committed to supporting all individuals in embracing their authentic selves and cultivating meaningful relationships and a grounded sense of belonging in the world.

----------------------------------------------------------------

My practice is client-centered and strength-focused. You already bring valuable skills, insight, and resilience into the room. I use appropriate diagnostic tools to guide our collaboration, while honoring your cultural values, personal beliefs, and lived experience. Together, we will use tailored cognitive-behavioral strategies and other evidence-based approaches designed specifically for your needs.

------------------------------------------------------------------

I approach therapy with deep respect for southwestern tribal sovereignty, cultural traditions, and community values, and I strive to create a space where your cultural identity is honored.

What you can expect from me

The first session is about creating a foundation for growth and a space for you to feel 100% comfortable. Beginning therapy can feel vulnerable, and my priority is to provide a safe, supportive space where we can explore your goals, clarify expectations, and begin the work of meaningful change—at a pace that feels right for you.
