Great to meet you!

My name is Shayna Wade and I am grateful to have the opportunity to provide therapy to individuals brave enough to be vulnerable and engage in this process.

I have been a therapist for 10+ years and have worked in private practice, community mental health, residential substance abuse and school based settings. I have worked as a therapist and lived all over the country and I am grateful to live in Western North Carolina in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains that I now call home. I am a dual-licensed Mental Health and Addictions Counselor in North Carolina. I also am a licensed Mental Health Counselor in Oregon. Currently I am providing individual and couples counseling virtually to residents of North Carolina and Oregon.

My approach to therapy

In therapy, my goal is to support people in finding their own truth, heal from trauma/grief, learn about their own mental health and find ways to live a life that promotes wellness and living in alignment with our values and true selves. My hope is therapy ultimately supports people in accepting all parts of themselves and allows them to live a life they are proud of and to feel more connected to themselves and those around them. I have extensive experience working with adults and couples. My areas of specialty are Depression/Anxiety, Trauma, Grief, Infertility/Loss, Addiction/Alcoholism and Recovery, and Healthy Attachment/Relationships. I am a certified EMDR practitioner and trained in the S.A.F.E. modality of EMDR at the Personal Transformation Institute.

What you can expect from me

In our first session together, you can expect an opportunity to be clear about the kind of support you are looking for and make sure it feels like a good fit for your therapeutic experience. I can promise to be clear about my training, my style, and what you can expect from me. It is important for me to be more than a "talking head" so I will always be a human first, therapist second.
