Great to meet you!

Reaching out for therapy takes something, and you've already done the hard part.

I've been a psychotherapist for over 25 years, working with clients of nearly every age. Thirteen of those years were in a community mental health center, where I provided outpatient therapy, case management, and crisis services — which means very little you bring in will surprise me or feel like too much. For six years after that, I worked in families' homes, both one-on-one with clients and with parents and siblings together. I've seen how much of what we struggle with individually is tangled up in the people around us.

I moved to virtual work just before the pandemic, so telehealth isn't something I adapted to out of necessity. It's how I've practiced for years, and I've learned how to make it feel personal rather than distant. You can do this from wherever you're comfortable.

Whatever brought you here — whether you've been in therapy before or this is your first time — I'd be glad to hear about it.

My approach to therapy

I start by getting to know you as a person, not a presenting problem. Real change happens in a relationship where you feel genuinely heard, so building that comes first. From there we get specific: what you want to be different, and what a realistic path there looks like. I'll meet you where you are, and I won't push you faster than you want to go.

What you can expect from me

Our first session is mostly me listening. I'll ask about your history and what's been going on, partly to gather the background I need, but mostly to understand you. You'll get to ask me questions too, and decide whether I feel like the right fit — that matters more than people realize.

By the end of that conversation we'll have a sense of what you're working toward, and we'll build from there. No pressure to have it all figured out on day one.
