Psychodynamic
I use a number of different treatment methods with my basis being psychodynamic. This depth-oriented therapy aims to increase self-awareness, improve relationships, resolve conflicts, and better understand how unconscious thoughts and past experiences can inform present behaviors.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is effective for a number of different mental health issues. CBT helps clients to identify unhelpful thought patterns and beliefs which get in the way of having a more productive and satisfying life. Learning new coping skills will help improve your daily functioning.
Attachment Based
The relationships we form in infancy and childhood have a great impact on our lives throughout adulthood. Based on the early years and connections (or lack thereof), we develop a certain way of attaching and engaging with others that can sometimes be challenging. Learning about your attachment style will help you have a better understanding of your current and past relationships, and over time, you can learn to improve those connections as you move forward.
Trauma Informed Care
Traumatic events can significantly interfere with daily functioning. Depending on the trauma and circumstances around that trauma(s), clients can carry this pain around for years. It's important to feel safe and validated when working through these difficult experiences. These issues can be treated through several modalities including EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), which significantly reduces distress related to the memories of the traumatic event(s). Learning to deal with the emotional responses of the event(s) versus rehashing all the details is the most important part.
