Great to meet you!

Life can feel heavy sometimes — especially when stress, trauma, or burnout start taking over. If you’re feeling disconnected from yourself or struggling to manage everything on your plate, you’re in the right place. You deserve support that feels grounded, compassionate, and truly tailored to you.

I’m Kirsten, a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor in Minnesota, Idaho, and New Mexico, and a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor in Minnesota. I’ve spent more than a decade helping people move through overwhelming experiences and into a place of confidence, hope, and healing.

I’m trained in trauma-focused therapies including EMDR, Sand Tray Therapy, CAMS for suicidal safety and support, Trauma-Focused CBT, and mindfulness-based approaches. I also use Parts Work, Attachment-Based Therapy, and CBT to meet you exactly where you are and support real, meaningful change.

I work with individuals and couples — and I’m especially passionate about supporting helpers: healthcare professionals, educators, and anyone working in service of others who might be feeling burnt out or carrying invisible emotional weight. I offer in-person counseling in Bemidji, MN and telehealth throughout Minnesota, Idaho, and New Mexico. I also provide clinical supervision and consulting for clinicians in Minnesota and Idaho.

My approach to therapy

I believe therapy should feel like a partnership — not a performance. You won’t find judgment here or pressure to “fix” everything right away. Instead, we’ll work together to slow down, understand what your mind and body are trying to communicate, and build skills that support you both now and in the future.

My style is warm, grounded, and relational. I bring curiosity, humor when it helps, and deep respect for the courage it takes to show up and do this work. I focus on helping you feel safe in your own internal experience — because real healing happens when your nervous system feels secure enough to explore, release, and rewrite old patterns.

We’ll honor the strengths you already possess while also exploring the parts of you that feel afraid, exhausted, or unheard. I aim to help you reconnect with trust in yourself — your insight, your boundaries, and your capacity for healing.

What you can expect from me

In our first session, I’ll ask questions to better understand you and your goals for therapy. Our work together starts with building a relationship where you feel truly seen and safe. We’ll explore the challenges bringing you to therapy, identify what healing could look like for you, and set goals that feel both empowering and attainable. I blend structure with flexibility — some sessions may focus on learning tools and coping strategies, while others may involve deeper trauma processing or guided self-reflection. Throughout it all, your voice and your pace are central. Healing isn’t one-size-fits-all, and therapy shouldn’t be either.

I offer EMDR Intensive (half and full day). Please reach out for additional information.
