Aaron Bekkela

I've been married for over 20 years with 2 kids and worked everything from construction to casinos to being a police officer. My bachelors degree is in business, masters in counseling. That coupled with being a therapist for years now, helps me to understand life from multiple points of view. I've worked in emergency rooms, as an intensive care coordinator writing roughly 50 residential assessments, and as a clinical director at a residential facility working with adolescents and their families.

My approach to therapy includes meeting client's where they are at and employ whatever therapeutic approach fits them however, I tend to go with CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy) as it's one of the most empirically tested and proven approaches that works well for most. I'm also a licensed addictions counselor and have been trained in EMDR.

I come from a position of the client being the expert in their life where they know where they've been, what they've learned and experienced, and what they are struggling with. I do so with NO judgement! We've all experienced people and situations in our lives where we weren't at our best or made the best decisions. We've all been exposed to the same where things were out of our control and we simply did the best we could. My goal is for them to leave with tools to achieve higher functioning.
