Great to meet you!

Hi, I’m Abram Andersen. I’m a licensed marriage and family therapist with over 12 years of experience supporting individuals and couples through life’s challenges. I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and my Master’s degree in Counseling, and I’m passionate about helping clients create meaningful, lasting change.

I work with individuals navigating depression, anxiety, trauma, grief and loss, relationship challenges, anger management concerns, and substance use issues. I also provide couples therapy focused on improving communication, rebuilding trust, and strengthening emotional connection.

My approach is compassionate, collaborative, and practical. I strive to create a safe, nonjudgmental space where you feel heard and supported. Whether you’re feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or simply ready for growth, I’m here to help you move forward with clarity and confidence.

My approach to therapy

As a therapist, I consider myself both holistic and eclectic. I believe there is no one-size-fits-all approach to therapy, so I draw from a variety of tools and modalities to best support each client’s unique needs and goals. Every person’s story is different, and I value tailoring the therapeutic process to fit you.

While I integrate multiple approaches, I often lean heavily into Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). At its core, CBT is based on the idea that our thoughts influence our feelings, and our feelings influence our behaviors. When we experience depression or anxiety, it is often connected to patterns of maladaptive or unhelpful thinking that operate just beneath the surface.

Through the process of CBT, I help clients become more aware of the thoughts that may be contributing to emotional distress. From there, we work together to challenge and reframe those thoughts into more balanced, adaptive ways of thinking. This shift can create meaningful changes in how you feel and how you respond to life’s challenges.

My goal is to equip you with practical tools that you can use outside of sessions, empowering you to build resilience and lasting change.

What you can expect from me

My goal as a therapist is to help you clearly identify what you want to work on and then support you in moving toward those goals in a meaningful and timely way. Therapy should feel purposeful. From the very beginning, we will collaborate to define what success looks like for you and create a plan to get there.

I often tell my clients that my goal is to “get myself fired.” What I mean by that is simple: I want to work myself out of a job because you no longer need my help. My hope is that through our work together, you gain the insight, tools, and confidence to navigate life’s challenges independently. Therapy isn’t meant to create dependence — it’s meant to build strength, resilience, and self-trust.

When you reach a place where you feel capable of handling things on your own, that’s a success story.
