Great to meet you!

Hi, my name is Alex! I'm a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and I have a lot of experience working with a wide range of backgrounds, cultures, and experiences. As a therapist, I maintain a holistic approach to counseling and believe that you are always the expert on your life and experiences. I am here to help you in you journey to grow and learn.

I have a Masters degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Stetson University and have worked in a wide range of counseling settings. In my counseling career, I have worked in the hospital setting with clients in residential treatment, partial outpatient treatment, and intensive outpatient treatment. I have also worked in private practice both in person and through tele-health, assisting couples, families and individuals in their healing process. I also have a lot of experience working with children in counseling and academic environments and worked as an elementary school teacher for four years.

With having such a diverse background in counseling, I have worked with a wide range of experiences and diagnoses. I have experience working with clients coping with anything from anxiety, depression and mood disorders to borderline personality disorder and psychosis. As your therapist, I am prepared to support you and challenge you as you learn to approach things in a new way.

A bit about my approach to therapy

As a therapist, I believe in a holistic approach to counseling while utilizing therapeutic tools like CBT and client focused counseling as my foundation. I have a background in yoga therapy and have worked with clients and groups to process trauma through mindfulness and working to be present in the moment.

I feel that you are always the expert of your own life. I believe in utilizing tools from a wide range of counseling practices to meet you where you're at and support your journey as it develops and changes over time. There is no singular way to move through challenges in life, I am here to meet you where you're at in all phases of life.

What you can expect from our first session

In our sessions, you can expect to experience the incorporation of mindfulness, being present in your body and this moment, and challenging yourself to face the difficult moments or questions in your life. I am here to first and foremost, support you, but I also aim to challenge you and push you outside your comfort zone. We grow in the uncomfortable and our sessions will allow for a safe space for you to explore this discomfort and learn to view it in a new light.
