Great to meet you!

If you are feeling overwhelmed by constant worry, navigating the heavy weight of grief, or struggling to manage daily stress and complex family dynamics, please know that you are not alone in these feelings. I specialize in these challenges, alongside a dedicated focus on women's and LGBTQIA+ unique issues, and I am here to provide a safe and open space .

I work with people, often new to therapy, to process through emotions, to help them understand themselves better, work on building coping skills, and help build healthy communication skills. I want to offer a safe space for those that are nervous about going to counseling and for those that have maybe tried therapy before with mixed results.

My approach to therapy

There are a lot of different types of therapists with various backgrounds, approaches and tools. I am very supportive in wanting everyone to find the best fit for them.

My goal is to provide a safe space for you to be able to process your emotions, life challenges, and relationship issues. We will use a conversational collaborative approach, as well as humor, and some thought provoking questions to hopefully help you work through your goals in therapy. I use a solution focused approach, while providing an open-minded space to hopefully help promote healing. I use techniques of CBT, CPT, motivational interviewing, as well as other evidenced based approaches in a supportive, yet direct approach. I've got a background in in-patient, out-patient, community based and private practice, and with over 8 years of experience, I want to help those, especially those that may have had mixed results in therapy in the past.

I want to help empower you to get to where you want to be, while helping you navigate the many challenges and emotions that come along with living life. I want to help you build coping skills and empower you to help you manage your mental health while building/maintaining healthy relationships. I specialize in working through stress management, anxiety, grief, relationship issues, and with the LGBTQIA+ community. I want this to be a safe space for all.

What you can expect from me

During the first session, I want to get to know you! I will ask you questions, but I want to know about you and what lead you to therapy? One of the questions I ask is, "why therapy and why now?" I also want to know what you hope to get out of therapy, what goals do you have? Most of the work at the beginning is the building of trust and I know that takes time. I want this to be a place where that trust can begin to build.
