Great to meet you!

Hello there! My name is Anjelica and I look forward to learning more about you! I am a licensed clinical social worker with over 15 years of experience in the field. I received my BA in Psychology from Penn State and my MSW from Walden University. The majority of my experience as a young social worker came from a large community mental health agency in Ocean County, NJ. I spent a lot of time with individuals with severe and persistent mental illness (schizophrenia, bi-polar disorder, major depression, trauma, ext). One of my favorite populations to work with are the homeless. I spent years working for PATH in the community and found this work exceptionally rewarding. I also worked for a time with local police departments as the department social worker. Another population I enjoy working with is teens. My graduate internship was at a shelter for children and adolescents aged 10-19 who were homelessness or waiting for foster placement. I have experience working with children, teens, adults, and seniors in an outpatient therapeutic setting.

My approach to therapy

I truly see myself as a client-centered clinician. I enjoy building rapport with my clients and being a partner in their journey to self-growth. I believe that the client is the expert, and that my role is to gently guide them to the answers that they already have within themselves. Some modalities I use in therapy are CBT, DBT, solution-focused, and motivational interviewing. I am trauma-informed and have worked with at-risk populations.

What you can expect from me

The first session is an opportunity for me to get to know you better. I like to get enough information to paint an overall picture of your life--medical, social, and behavioral. During this session we will also work together to identify your goals during the course of treatment.
