Great to meet you!

Ashley is an LCSW who has experience providing therapy to people living with severe and persistent mental illness, depression and anxiety, grief and loss, trauma, and cancer. She utilizes elements of Relational Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Dialectical Behavioral therapy in her approach and has provided direct client care since 2010.

Ashley obtained her M.S.W at UIC and has worked in community mental health both as a clinician providing therapy and as a leader supervising students pursuing their masters in counseling. She’s worked in healthcare providing counseling to those with cancer. Lastly, Ashley completed a two year Trauma Consultation Program at WomenCare to further her training.

My approach to therapy

Ashley’s hope as a therapist is to support people with building a foundation to live a life that aligns with their values. Your experiences, environments, and relationships all shape who you are, but due to trauma and unhealthy connection you may experience distress and need support to ultimately move from surviving to thriving. Ashley approaches therapy as a collaborative relationship and prioritizes safety, empathy, and authenticity throughout the process. She values strength based, person centered treatment, and in your work together you will focus on what’s important to you while also challenge areas that are counterproductive.

What you can expect from me

You can expect Ashley to meet you exactly where you are during your first session, whether you have a primary focus driving therapy or you are in contemplation and curious about what change could look like. No emphasis on boxes to check or operating with a sense of urgency. The first session is also an opportunity to express any preferences and needs to promote progress and prioritize individuality. Lastly, Ashley and you will discuss what's next, whether you'd like to schedule individual therapy moving forward or consider another therapist or level of care that would better fit.
