Great to meet you!

Hi, I'm Avonlea. I help teens and adults who are feeling overwhelmed, stuck, burned out, anxious, or caught in patterns that no longer serve them. My areas of focus include anxiety, ADHD, OCD, trauma, grief, relationship challenges, life transitions, and identity exploration.

I have a special passion for working with members of the LGBTQ+ community and people who feel stuck in patterns of overthinking, people-pleasing, perfectionism, self-doubt, or feeling like their brain refuses to cooperate no matter how hard they try. I especially enjoy helping individuals with ADHD better understand how their minds work and build a life that works with their brain instead of constantly fighting against it.

My approach to therapy

I enjoy helping clients better understand how their minds work, explore attachment patterns in relationships, learn how anxiety impacts the nervous system, and break free from cycles of overthinking, avoidance, people-pleasing, and self-doubt.

I also enjoy working with individuals who have ADHD, helping them understand their unique strengths and challenges, develop systems that actually work for their brain, and let go of the belief that they simply need to "try harder." My goal is to help clients build insight, develop practical tools, and create meaningful change that extends beyond the therapy room.

What you can expect from me

You don't need to have your entire life story organized, know exactly what you want to work on, or have the "right" answer to any of my questions. Some people come in with a detailed list on their phone. Others show up and say, "I have no idea where to start." Both are completely welcome.

My sessions tend to feel more like a conversation than an interrogation. We'll spend time getting to know each other, talking about what's bringing you to therapy, what you've been struggling with, and what you're hoping might feel different in your life. Along the way, there may be tears, laughter, tangents, moments of insight, and occasionally realizing your brain has been doing something sneaky and/or protective this whole time.

Therapy doesn't require having it all figured out before you walk through the door. If you're hurting, overwhelmed, lost, stuck, or simply wanting more out of life, I'd be honored to be part of your journey.
