Bethany Althoff

I grew up in Springfield, Missouri where I received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Missouri State University. I also hold a Master’s of Education in Higher Education Administration from the University of Arkansas and a Master’s degree in Counseling and Guidance from the University of Missouri-Kansas City. In 2012, I obtained a Certification in Play Therapy from MidAmerica Nazarene University. I worked as an elementary school counselor from 2006-2023 in both the Independence and Liberty School Districts. In addition to school counseling, I have experience working as a mental health therapist at a pediatric clinic, an adjunct professor for MidAmerica Nazarene University and as a private practitioner for the past six years.

During my 20 years of experience in working in the mental health field, I have worked with such issues as anxiety, depression, trauma, life transitions and school issues. I use many modalities such as play therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, family therapy and a client centered approach and will work with you on what your needs are and tailor the treatment modality to best fit your treatment goals.

During our first session, we will discuss your current needs, answer questions you may have and set goals for therapy.
