Great to meet you!

I specialize in helping adult survivors of sexually related trauma, child abuse, and other traumatic experiences, overcome their painful past (no matter how long ago it happened). While it's true that we cannot undo history, it's also true that we don't have to stay stuck living in the past. The therapeutic process is designed to help you find the strength, wisdom and courage you need to transform your life.

My approach to therapy

Over the past 28 years I have had the privilege and good fortune to attend many wonderful classes, workshops and seminars on a variety of therapeutic orientations and practice. I love learning about new cutting edge interventions. That being said, I do have a strong foundation that I work from. The interventions listed below make up that foundation.

  1. Motivational interviewing to:
    • Gather relevant history, validate and normalize feelings, clarify communications, assess progress.
  2. Somatic Experiencing Techniques to:
    • decrease emotional, physical and psychological pain
    • integrate traumatic experiences into a coherent, personal narrative
    • increase felt sense of empowerment
  3. Gestalt psychotherapy
    • use techniques like role play and letter writing to work through and release unhealthy attachments to toxic relationships past and present
    • strengthen/fortify healthy relationships

What you can expect from me

My hope is that my clients will take with them:

  1. A greater sense of compassion for themselves coupled with a stronger hope for a better future.
  2. Improved vocabulary and language skills to better understand and define their internal awareness, experiences they have with other people, and the goals they are working towards achieving.
  3. Understanding/comprehension of how trauma becomes stuck within our bodies and the knowledge and practice of how to release emotional, psychological and physical pain.
