Great to meet you!

Hello, and welcome. I am Dr. Chavonda Marshall-Jackson, EdD, LMHC, CSAYC, a Licensed Mental Health Counselor with more than 25 years of experience supporting children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families through life's challenges. My professional background includes community mental health, school counseling, behavioral health, family systems, trauma-informed care, crisis intervention, and clinical assessment.

I believe that every person deserves a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental space to heal, grow, and achieve their goals. Throughout my career, I have worked with individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, grief and loss, relationship difficulties, family conflict, life transitions, behavioral concerns, and challenges related to self-esteem and personal growth.

My approach is compassionate, collaborative, and culturally responsive. I strive to understand each client's unique experiences, strengths, values, and goals while helping them develop practical tools for lasting change. I have extensive experience working with children, adolescents, adults, families, and underserved communities, and I am committed to meeting clients where they are in their journey.

Seeking support takes courage, and I consider it a privilege to walk alongside clients as they work toward healing, resilience, and greater emotional well-being.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is collaborative, strengths-based, and solution-focused. I believe clients are the experts in their own lives, and my role is to provide support, insight, evidence-based interventions, and practical strategies to help them achieve their goals.

I draw from several therapeutic approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Person-Centered Therapy, Family Systems Therapy, Trauma-Informed Care, Solution-Focused Therapy, and mindfulness-based techniques. I tailor treatment to each client's individual needs rather than using a one-size-fits-all approach.

I focus on helping clients identify strengths, develop healthy coping skills, improve communication, process difficult emotions, strengthen relationships, and build resilience. My goal is to create a supportive therapeutic relationship where clients feel heard, respected, challenged when appropriate, and empowered to make meaningful changes in their lives.

What you can expect from me

During our first session, clients can expect a warm, welcoming, and supportive environment. My goal is to get to know you as a person, understand your concerns, and learn what has brought you to therapy.

We will discuss your current challenges, personal history, strengths, support systems, and goals for treatment. I will ask questions to better understand your experiences while also giving you the opportunity to share what feels most important to you. There is no pressure to tell your entire story during the first session.

Together, we will begin identifying goals and developing a plan that supports your needs and priorities. By the end of our first meeting, I want you to feel heard, understood, and hopeful about the path forward. Therapy is a partnership, and we will work together to help you achieve meaningful and lasting change.
