Great to meet you!

Hi! I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT). I got my bachelor's degree at University of La Verne and my master's at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona. I enjoy doing short-term, goal-oriented therapy with adults. I have been fascinated over the years by the success of the use of short-term therapy and understand that with intentional participation a person can attain some progress towards their goal in therapy. I have always thought that individuals (especially adults that seek out therapy willfully) have in them the potentials to rethink their situation and work towards resolving their concerns when provided the appropriate tools allowing them to clearly see and identify what their objective is at that time. Short term, goal-oriented therapy affords both the client and the therapist to address and tackle the client's needs and enable the client to return to optimum functioning.

My approach to therapy

One of my clinical specialties is Solution Focused Brief Therapy. I personally do not focus on pathologizing my clients, so I focus on emphasizing the client’s strengths and resources to create positive change. Being a proponent of brief therapy, I focus on the present “what brings you here” and work towards resolving the concern and future goals rather than past problems. I like to emphasize solutions rather than investigating underlying issues. I try to explore the client’s strengths rather than weaknesses, the client’s skills, resources, and coping abilities that would help reach the future goals. I have also been trained in the use of DBT and CBT as well as Feedback Informed Care (FIC). These tools I believe have been most helpful in working with my specific population, Adults who come seeking clarification of the current concerns they are dealing with be it Anxiety, Depression, Adjustment issues, Marital problems, relationship issues, work related stress, low self-esteem, communication issues, grief reactions, etc.

What you can expect from me

Take a moment to acknowledge you've taken the first step towards bettering your mental health because, let's be honest - starting therapy can be empowering, confusing, or scary, all at the same time. I strive to create a safe and welcoming environment that allows clients to explore obstacles with concerns related to anxiety, depression, and/or self-care. I focus on helping clients develop assertive communication & boundaries with themselves and those around them that can help improve their quality of life. Counseling can foster personal development in whatever way you may be seeking and help build the life you so deeply deserve. If that's what you're looking for, I'm here when you're ready to share.
