I have a doctorate in Marital and Family Therapy (and practice as a LMFT)The initial session is meant for me to understand what brought you to therapy, to discuss goals and expectations, and to see how recent challenges have impacted you. My goal is to see how I can help you and to generate conversation about what we might expect throughout the relationship. From there, we will formulate and talk about the plan and how we can maintain accountability to create the change you're looking to make. From there, it's simply about maintaining consistency, which is the hallmark of any good therapy. and specialize in anxiety and trauma. Over the last decade, my approach has been about being genuine, being real. I have extensive education and training in trauma (CBT, EMDR, TF-CBT, and Narrative therapies). I use humor to break down the inherent challenges that occur in therapy and getting to know people. I understand a client's needs from their perspective, and provide a therapy based on their values, even as they change over time.

My approach to therapy

My greatest strength is allowing people to feel seen and heard. I am approachable and make myself available to my clients. I am a professor at the university level and this furthers my ongoing desire to stay current in trends and ways to help with anxiety, trauma, depression, and relationship issues. I utilize many approaches but enjoy CBT, EMDR, and TF-CBT, as I have found these quite helpful in addressing overall needs.

What you can expect from me

I love working with both young and seasoned professionals who are inclined to learn about themselves and ways in which they can improve through awareness and understanding. My clients are able to appreciate a conversational approach with use of humor and mindfulness to reach realistic and measurable goals. Most of my clients experience anxiety and have had trauma that gives them pause in their relationships, but all have motivation to change that which makes them feel stuck.
