Great to meet you!

As a board-certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner, I specialize in comprehensive psychiatric care for adults navigating mental health challenges. My practice is built on the belief that effective treatment requires both clinical expertise and a genuine therapeutic relationship.

I work with adults experiencing depression, anxiety disorders, ADHD, OCD, bipolar disorder, trauma-related conditions, and perinatal mental health challenges. My patients include young professionals managing career stress and transitions, individuals with long-standing conditions seeking better care, new parents adjusting to parenthood, and adults exploring medication options for the first time or reconsidering current treatments.

My approach integrates evidence-based psychopharmacology with psychotherapy. I believe in collaborative decision-making—discussing not only what medications might help, but why we're choosing them and how to evaluate their effectiveness together. Medication can be transformative, but it's most effective when combined with therapeutic insight.

What distinguishes my practice is thoroughness. I don't rush appointments or reduce you to a diagnosis. I take time to understand your complete history, current stressors, and how symptoms impact your daily life. Whether you're seeking your first evaluation, a second opinion, or ongoing management with meaningful support, I provide attentive, individualized care.

I'm fluent in Portuguese and conversational in Spanish. My practice welcomes all adults regardless of background or identity. If you're ready to work with a provider who combines clinical rigor with compassionate care, I'd be honored to support your journey.

My approach to therapy

A core belief drives my practice: you deserve to be an active, empowered partner in your mental health journey. My approach is collaborative, transparent, and dedicated to ensuring you fully understand your treatment so every decision genuinely reflects your values and goals. You are never a passive recipient of care—you are the most essential voice on your care team.

From our very first meeting, I welcome your questions, concerns, and preferences. I recognize that your cultural background, personal identities, and lived experiences profoundly shape how you engage with mental health support, and I am committed to honoring all of that with thoughtfulness and respect. What do you hope to gain from treatment? What matters most—relieving symptoms, minimizing side effects, or simplicity? What reservations do you hold about medication? Your perspective directly shapes everything I recommend. I never want you leaving a session feeling uncertain about our plan or the reasoning for it.

I take time to explain how psychiatric medications work, what changes you might notice, and what a realistic timeline looks like. I translate complex science into clear language so you can truly understand what is happening in your mind and body. This knowledge is not merely informational—it is genuinely empowering. When you understand your treatment, you can track your progress and advocate confidently for your needs. I also offer resources and practical strategies to keep you engaged between our appointments.

Your comfort and confidence in our work are as important as clinical outcomes. I deeply respect your autonomy. If a recommendation does not feel right, we will explore alternatives. If you prefer combining lifestyle changes with medication, or a gradual approach, I fully support that.

What you can expect from me

Your first appointment is designed to be thorough, compassionate, and unconditionally supportive from start to finish.

My hope is that you leave our initial meeting feeling more hopeful and less alone than when you arrived. We will begin by exploring what is bringing you to seek medication management at this time — whether a current treatment approach is no longer effective, new challenges have emerged, or you are entering psychiatric care for the very first time.

We will move through a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation covering your present mental health concerns, how intensely they affect you, how long they have been present, and the ways they are disrupting your everyday life. I will ask about changes in mood, anxiety, panic attacks, intrusive thoughts, compulsive behaviors, difficulty concentrating, sleep disturbances, appetite shifts, persistent fatigue, and any thoughts of self-harm.

We will review your mental health history, including prior diagnoses, past hospitalizations, previous treatment experiences, and medications you have taken before. Your family's psychiatric history also carries significant weight, as it helps inform which treatment directions are most likely to benefit you.

We will explore your medical history, including existing health conditions, allergies, current medications, and substance use. Life stressors, relationship dynamics, work responsibilities, and your support system all meaningfully influence emotional well-being, and we will discuss each of these areas with honesty and genuine care.

When medication is clinically appropriate, I will walk you through all available options — covering medication types, anticipated benefits, possible side effects, and how to manage them.

You will leave with a personalized treatment plan, prescriptions if indicated, clearly defined next steps, and the confidence of having a provider who is fully committed to your well-being.
